Brazilian percussionist/composer and educator, a versatile musician and performer, known for his unconventional and exploratory approach to music, and for his ability to create magical soundscapes from the seemingly banal.As a composer, Adriano has written music for stage, orchestra, and community projects. His credits include the score for Undivided Lovers (choreographer Kate Flatt, Phoenix Dance Company), inspired by Shakespeare’s sonnets; Suite Dialogues (2017) and Percussion Concerto (2019) for symphony orchestra; and Hatch, commissioned by the Royal Opera House and Polka Theatre. He has also composed works for young performers through commissions from organizations such as Sparks, Serious, and Bath Festival.As a performer, Adriano has toured internationally, collaborating with artists across cultures and genres. His partnerships include Joanna MacGregor, Antonio Forcione, Emilia Mårtensson, Britten Sinfonia, Netsayi Chigwendere, Kritiina Ilmonen, Seckou Keita, Carolina Paulino, Nathan Riki Thomson, Kate Flatt, Marcelo Andrade and Kadialy Kouyate. These collaborations place him at the heart of intercultural and transcultural musical exchange.As a recording artist, Adriano has released several solo albums and contributed to over 30 recordings. He thrives in the studio, treating it as a space for innovation and creative communication.Currently pursuing a doctorate at the Sibelius Academy, where he also lectures, Adriano’s research explores artistic expression through minimal means — investigating how musicians convey depth and emotion using a limited set of tools. His project also examines broader questions of identity, globalized artistic practice, and the influence of Western Art Music traditions in contemporary education.Adriano is the founder of Caboclos Art Production, an organization dedicated to developing community arts projects for young people and adults. He has curated festivals and served as an artistic director, continuing to inspire creativity and cultural connection through his work.
